Chairperson's Message

South Asian University (SAU), established in 2010 by the eight SAARC nations, has consistently aimed to advance knowledge and regional collaboration. In continuation of this mission, we are proposing the establishment of the Center on Precision Health & Nutrition (CPHN) to strengthen our academic, research, and training capabilities in an area of critical regional importance.

The recommendations emerging from the Expert Group Meeting held at Colombo in July 2025 highlighted the urgent need to address the growing burden of nutritional and micronutrient deficiencies across SAARC countries. Responding to this call, the proposed Centre at SAU will serve as a hub for innovative research, evidence-based policy guidance, capacity building, and specialised academic programs tailored to regional needs.

The Centre will play a pivotal role in developing solutions that not only mitigate nutritional challenges but also promote healthier behaviours and support member states through emerging technologies and informed strategies.

I am confident that this initiative will significantly contribute to improving the wellbeing of our region and further strengthen SAU’s commitment to meaningful, impactful regional cooperation.
